When a death is deemed “Reportable” the process for cremation or burial will take on a different trajectory to an “Expected” death.
- First of all, the coroner will be notified.
- Your loved one will be transported from the place of death to the coronial services building in Southbank.
- The senior next of kin will need to be established.
- Staff from the Coronial Admissions and Enquiries (CAE) will talk through key decisions with the senior next of kin.
- During this process, you are able to contact your funeral director immediately. You do not need to wait for the coroner’s investigation to finish to do this.
